Salmon – Our Focus

Salmon are the heart and soul of the North Coast, representing both a storied heritage and a vital resource for our local waters. These iconic fish are more than just a catch; they are a symbol of the health of our rivers and the Pacific at large. HASA’s mission is centered on the stewardship of these incredible runs, advocating for the protection of their habitat and the long-term recovery of the stocks that have sustained Northern California for generations. We believe that by being proactive today, we can ensure that the tradition of “chasing Kings” remains a reality for our children and grandchildren.

At the core of our work is a commitment to responsible, sustainable angling. We represent the voice of the recreational fisherman at regulatory meetings, pushing for management plans that prioritize the survival of the species while still allowing for reasonable, science-based access to the fishery. By promoting ethical fishing practices and supporting river restoration efforts, we aim to strike a balance where the resource is protected and our community can continue to enjoy the thrill of the season. We’re here to make sure that as the runs recover, the North Coast angler is right there alongside them, fishing with respect for the water and the future
